Guide to Finding Geek Culture Spots on Google Maps

Hey there! If you’re a gay geek in Jersey (or anywhere on the map lol) like me, looking to find cool spots where you can geek out and feel totally welcome, I’ve got a simple guide for you. Here’s how I use Google Maps to uncover the best places around.

1. Start with a Quick Search

Just pop open Google Maps and type in something you’re into. Could be “comic book stores,” “gaming arcades,” or “science museums.” You’ll be surprised at what you might find right in your backyard.

2. Dive into the Reviews and Photos

Found a place that piqued your interest? Awesome. Now, take a moment to scroll through the photos and reviews. This part’s key because you get to see if the vibe’s right and if it’s a spot where you’ll feel comfy and welcomed.

3. Explore the Area on the Map

I love zooming in and out on the map to see what else is nearby. Sometimes the best spots are hidden in the most bustling areas, so don’t be afraid to explore a bit on the screen.

4. Check Out Lists from Other Users

Google Maps has this neat feature where people can make lists of their favorite places. I’ve found some real gems this way. It’s like getting a tip from a friend who knows exactly what you’re into.

5. Mark Your Finds and Plan a Visit

When something looks super cool, I save it on my map so I don’t forget. Then, when I’m up for an adventure, I’ve got a whole list of places to check out.

6. Join in on Events or Meetups

Sometimes spots will have events listed right there on Maps. It’s a great way to dive into your interests with others who are just as into it as you are. Plus, you never know who you’ll meet.

So, that’s pretty much it! With Google Maps as your sidekick, you’re all set to discover amazing geeky spots where you can be your awesome self. Happy exploring!

Here’s some of my personal NJ favs to visist: Silverball Retro Arcade in Asbury Park, Pasta Volo in Asbury Park, & The Paranormal Museum- Paranormal Books & Curiosities. Here is a cool way to have fun, eat good foods, and find cool things all in one spot!
