We Interviewed Lauren Steel a Book Marketer!

Today we had a chat with someone in the book marketing field. If you are an author or aspiring aurthor consider checking out this interview!

1. Tell us what book marketing management all is about?

As an author you often don’t realise how much work is involved pre and post getting your book/novel completed.

Your book is published, now what?

In order get your book out there, you need to be doing everything you can to promote your book on Social Media Platforms, Attending Book Launches, Going to Book PR Events and Liaising with bookstores, Press etc.

This is where I come in, and exactly what a Book Marketing Manager / Literary Agent does. We take the hard and time consuming promotional and liaising work out of the equation for you.

So that you can focus on the things you need to focus on, to be a successful writer, like writing your next book.

2. How can someone become a book marketing manager?

Honestly, I feel like anyone can do it, but very few have the persistence and consistency to become a book marketing manager/ literary agent.

However, in saying that I do have a double degree in Business and Marketing Management. I have worked with a numerous number of well-known companies within the Marketing Industry such as Ella Bache, Robina Town Centre, The Gold Coast Bulletin and More.
I currently work for a Publishing House as their Director of Marketing as well as running my own business ‘Books 2 Businesses’ as a book marketing manager and a literary agent.

3. What has been your biggest success story as a book marketing manager?

I would have to say my biggest success story to date whilst being a book marketing manager to date has been getting my clients into wholesale catalogues and distribution venues such as Woods Lane, Ingram Sparks, Neilson Title Editor, Fishpond etc.

I have also managed to get one or more of my clients stocked in stores such as QBD Bookstores, ABE Books, Australian Libraries and Universities.

I have also attended many author events and have now been asked to be a guest on a Podcast to discuss Book Marketing Management with the team over at Brisbane Audio Books Australia.

4. Goals for 2023?

I would say I only really have one or two major goals for 2023, with the first one being to expand my business and take on more authors, and the second one being just continuing to help my authors grow and really help with the success of their books, by getting them into stores and helping to increase the authors sales.

5. How can folks support your work?
