Indie Animation: What is Lakko’s Redemption?

We had the pleasure of chatting with Andrew Wallace all about Lakko’s Redemption an upcoming Indie animation. Be sure to check it out to learn more about this project!

Tell us about your project?

The project, as seen, is titled Lakko’s Redemption. The main character (Lakko) is a skulldog who wakes from an eternal slumber over many centuries. He wakes up at some point in time later on, confused and dazed inside an ancient tomb. Lakko, not remembering anything or how he got there,  takes the sword he was put to rest with, and goes to find out the truth of his past, though once he finds it, he may wish he didn’t.

It’s to be rated R/Mature Audiences for blood, violence & gore. If you love a good, mature story, that’s what this aims to be. Please do keep in mind due to the unpredictability of indie productions, things can change before release, such as plot, characters, music & more. You never know.

The name Lakko came from me wanting a more foreign sounding name similar to something in Romanian. Like my Romanian name is Claudiu. Also, where I grew up in Jersey City, NJ, there is a restaurant named Lakkos. Good food!

What Inspired your work?

My inspiration is things like The Legend of Zelda, Castlevania & things like Harry Potter that I grew up with. Also because I was born in Romania, and my family in Romania is a short drive away from Dracula’s (Vlad The Impaler)  Castle, my brother took me before!

The main inspiration was not only that but, media/games with a good deep story. I really enjoy things like Castlevania, Harry Potter, etc, and wanted to create my own fantasy universe. Not only for my interest in fantasy which is the main reason, but because of how disappointing Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 turned out compared to the first two as I was a huge fan of the series at the time., I wanted to make something possibly better but, my own take. (Gameplay design decisions, like the unnecessary stealth sections, and Dracula can fight Satan but yet can’t kill a guard? everything else is great of course)

Speaking of-

Regarding the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow trilogy, I messaged the composer, Óscar Araujo, and he gave permission to use his amazing score for Lakko’s Redemption. It fits very well with the story I am trying to tell. I am very thankful to Óscar Araujo, and hope to work with him more in the future, as well as other great composers. I highly suggest you listen to the OST he composed for the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow trilogy, which some is being repurposed in Lakko’s Redemption. However, later on I do want to commission for an original score if the fundraiser does well enough when it’s announced, I hope it does!

Other composers I would love to work with as well. I’ve been contacted by multiple, some who worked on big things (one being Helluva Boss).

Goals for the project?

The goals for this project are to hopefully gain enough of a following so it can be supported through fundraising. It started as a comic, but due to complications, the comic is being redone from scratch. There is no confirmed date when it will be released, as same for the animated pilot.

I am only one person funding this, and I’ve got great talented people who worked (some still do) on stuff like Spiderverse, Helluva Boss/Hazbin Hotel & more who are helping create this. Thankful for their help at Duskfawx Studio. I need all the support possible to help bring this project to life.

Advice you would give to new creatives?

Advice: if I can give anything, just keep doing it. I feel down at times because I know this will be great, but when you don’t have enough of a fanbase, it’s hard to ‘get it off the ground’ as the saying goes. So please, I beg, help support this project in any way you can!

Where can folks support your work?

You can support me, an upcoming film & voice actor, on my socials and the official Lakkos Redemption socials linked below. I need all the help I can get, so please follow. I am aiming to make this as big as Helluva Boss/Hazbin Hotel, Glitch Prod. &  many more. I have the talent and people, I just need the support!

No A.I is used in any capacity and never will be used for Lakko’s Redemption or any future projects.

I will announce a fundraiser later on all socials when a certain threshold is reached.

Please support the project at the official links here for updates, & support Duskfawx Studio. You can see some animated shots on their front page reel!

Also yes, there is a fursuit of Lakko. If you see me around any conventions, feel free to come say hi, chat, hangout & or take a picture! My socials are linked as well.
