Ahoy, Keyblade wielders and wielder wannabes! Are you hyped for Square Enix’s upcoming Kingdom Hearts IV? Are you anxiously refreshing Twitter for any morsel of news? Don’t lie, I see you. And guess what? Square Enix sees you too. That’s why they’re releasing yet another KH game to keep you busy while you wait. Hold onto your chocobos, folks, because Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link is about to grace your smartphones in 2024.
Closed Beta — A VIP Kingdom Hearts Experience
For those who can’t stand the anticipation, Square Enix is throwing a bone your way. The company announced a closed beta test available for iOS users that’ll begin on November 29th at 7:00 a.m. UTC and run until December 8th. Registrations are open until November 19th, so you’ve got limited time to throw your hat—or should I say Keyblade?—into the ring.
The Chain of Kingdom Hearts Releases
For anyone who’s been living under a rock—or, ya know, trapped in a realm of darkness—the Square Enix Kingdom Hearts factory has been pumping out titles like there’s no tomorrow. Just this year, they dropped the Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind for the Nintendo Switch via cloud.
A Quick History Lesson
Remember Kingdom Hearts Union χ [Cross] and Kingdom Hearts Dark Road? Yes, the ones that were supposed to be retired in May 2021 but got an extension like some kind of popular TV show. Well, they switched to offline mode in June 2021 and are now available in one glorious app. And let’s not forget the giant elephant in the room, Kingdom Hearts III, which was released in 2019 and swiftly became the fastest-selling title in the franchise’s history.
Where’s the Missing Link?
Okay, enough reminiscing. Let’s get back to the heart of the matter, which in this case, is Missing-Link. It’s slated for a 2024 release and that’s not just for the iPhone peeps but also for the Android users out there. Don’t feel left out, Android fam; Square Enix has got you covered.
Gaming on the Cloud
Considering Square Enix’s recent launch of cloud-based games on the Nintendo Switch, it’s worth speculating how Missing-Link will leverage cloud technology. With the potential for real-time updates and dynamic content, the game could very well offer a seamless and expansive experience unlike any mobile game before.
In a Galaxy Not So Far Away…
You know, we’re not just talking about a new chapter. This could be a significant addition to the sprawling Kingdom Hearts narrative, integrating with Kingdom Hearts IV in ways we can’t even fathom yet. Will Sora finally find the right door? Will we ever learn to navigate the labyrinth that is the Kingdom Hearts timeline? Only time will tell.
Concluding Wishes and Shameless Plugs
So, should you start saving up for that snazzy new phone just to play this game? I don’t know, man, but it’s an option. As the launch date gets closer, you can bet your Ultima Weapon we’ll be here with all the juiciest updates.
