HYPERWIRED Demo Review: Retro Space Shooting with a Clever Cable System

HYPERWIRED is a 2D pixel art roguelike space shooter with a sharp look, smart resource management, and fast arcade action. Right away, the game’s design stands out. The pixel art has a clean retro feel that reminds you of classic NES games, while the movement, upgrades, and combat help it feel fresh for modern players.

The main hook is the cable system. You have to plug in to recharge your energy, but once you are connected, your movement is limited by the length of your cable. That gives each level a fun risk-and-reward feel. You are blasting enemies, dodging bullets, managing energy, and trying not to get stranded in the dark parts of space.

There is a lot here for all types of gamers, both new and old. Fans of older arcade shooters will enjoy the retro look, tight movement, and boss battles, while newer players can dig into the ship options, slow-mo system, upgrades, and bullet modifier combinations. With 10+ ships, more than 40 upgrades, and over 250 bullet modifier combinations, there is plenty of room to test different playstyles.

The boss fights and procedural levels help keep the action moving, while the ability to rescue stranded ships and build a small fleet adds another fun twist. HYPERWIRED has great design, strong retro energy, and enough modern ideas to make it worth checking out for anyone who enjoys pixel art shooters.

The demo is out now until Steam Next Fest is over. The game will also be available also on Xbox , playstation, Nintendo and steam!
