We had the pleasure of chatting with one of the minds behind the upcoming game SEASON: A letter to the future. This game launches on January 31, 2023 from Scavengers Studio! If you are interested in learning more check them out HERE!

1. Can you tell us about SEASON: A letter to the future?

Season is a third person atmospheric adventure game. You play a young woman leaving her home for the first time to record the memory of a season before it comes to a sudden and mysterious end. 

2. What inspired  SEASON: A letter to the future?

Traveling, history, family, memories, the dead, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Marguerite Young, Svetlana Alexievich. 

3. What behind-the-scenes work do you want viewers to know about?

We worked on the world and tone for a while before actually starting the game. We made concept art, short stories, a board game version, mood videos, video essays. I found this helpful in establishing the core emotion of the project. Everything can be subject to change in a game, the story, gameplay, etc. But if you know how it’s supposed to ultimately make people feel, that can help you stay on track throughout the process. 

4. The animation to SEASON: A letter to the future is beautiful and has a very unique style. Can you tell us about the process of creating this animation?

Thank you! The process varied. We often tempted out scenes in interactive storyboards that were drawn by the art director based on the script and then modified. Other times the animation team worked off real world reference material.

5. What can fans expect to feel after completing the game?

I’m excited for people to tell us! Hopefully it will be difficult to put into words.
