Metroidvania fans have a new demo to check out. Barbarian Saga: The Beastmaster brings players into Arborea, a fantasy world still recovering after the wars of the portals. Peace does not last long, as Imperia and the Sacred Kingdom begin a war against non-humans with the help of Trece XIII, one of the last Wizards of Arborea.
You play as the last Beastmaster, a chosen warrior who can use the souls of animals and creatures to transform, fight, and reach new areas. That idea gives the game a strong hook right away. Instead of only relying on swordplay, the adventure builds around Beastmaster abilities, magic, creature powers, and exploration.
The hand-drawn art is one of the biggest standouts. The characters, enemies, and fantasy setting have a classic adventure feel, with designs that look bold and full of personality. It gives the game a handmade charm that fits well with its world of beasts, warriors, sorcery, and ancient conflict.

The demo also gives folks a chance to try the game’s Metroidvania-style map, arena battles, sword techniques, ritual necklace upgrades, potions, summons, and NPC-driven quests. The arena fights sound especially fun, with a closer camera and energy bars that call back to classic fighting games.
With its great art, hand-drawn style, fantasy story, and Beastmaster transformation system, Barbarian Saga: The Beastmaster is worth checking out. The demo is out now until Steam Next Fest is over. The game will also be available also on Xbox , playstation, Nintendo and steam!
