Spreading Positivity for Sword Art Online (and it’s fans)

Over the years Sword Art Online has gotten a ton of hate after memes and other forms of criticism have gone around the internet. Reki Kawahara (author) has even expressed himself in interviews, that he hopes to improve his writing.

Despite that, many YouTubers and Twitter users have turned SAO into a form of toxic internet culture, where if you say you enjoy SAO you are suddenly questioned.

Sword Art Online has many moments that would make the average anime watcher uncomfortable. Instead of “glorifying” certain scenes or making those scenes a trend, much like modern teen shows on Netflix do, SAO shows the watcher the scenes and how to prevent or fight against them.

Accel World, which focuses heavily on the repercussions of bullying, is another series worth watching. Much like SAO, Accel World has gone to the lengths of “showing” the viewer the pains of its characters, rather then writing them off like a happy ending or trend.

All Ages of Geek will continue to spread positivity for Sword Art Online and Reki Kawahara’s works.

  1. Super true, this show is ironically very realistic. There are some twisted people out there and this show shouldn’t shy away from it. It’s a bold show and it has nothing to apologize for.
