We Interviewed The Founder of Red Sea Comics!

We had the pleasure of interviewing Chris all about his work, Red Sea Comic, and much more!

1. What inspired you to become a writer?

I think one of my main inspirations was back in elementary school, my friends and I would play in make believe worlds we created. When I moved schools at the end of Elementary, I found myself suppressing that creative side in favor of fitting in at a new school. I’d say the thing that got me hooked on writing was reading The Lightning Thief in 6th grade. It combined two of my favorite things at the time, mythology and Harry Potter, and it made me obsessed with being able to create my own worlds again, this time experiencing and capturing them with words on a page.

2. What is the best thing about being a comic book writer?

Definitely writing something that really resonates with an artist. Seeing how the very skilled comic book artists I work with can take my words and turn them into these beautiful works of art is an almost indescribable feeling. It’s very humbling inspiring someone to spend months of their time and skills bringing your words to life.

3. Tell us about Red Sea Comics!

I started Red Sea Comics in 2020 after I put out three free webcomics of The Saturn Effect: Ajax online at I was hooked on making books and started working on spinoffs to those three original webcomics and other new titles. But not everything I was writing and starting to make was part of the Saturn Effect Universe. I decided to create Red Sea Comics as a home for all of my different titles which had a secondary effect. It gave all of the creators I was working with a place to pool our knowledge and progress in the medium and challenge each other to improve. Since 2020 we’ve put out multiple books, each raising the bar of quality and professionalism.

4. Advice to new writers?

Write everyday! I know you hear it all the time but it’s TRUE! If you want to be a writer, especially one that writes for a living, you have to be able to get words on the page consistently. One thing that people don’t mention is writing everyday doesn’t mean you have to grind out a short novella every day. It means everyday you put in the effort to make progress towards your end goal. You’ll be thankful for all the days you pushed yourself forward writing a sentence a day when you write “the end” on your current work in progress.

5. Goals for this year?

My goals for this year is to have multiple successful campaigns on Kickstarter and to table at a few comic conventions on the East Coast. Other than that its the same goal that everyone at Red Sea Comics has, to continuously improve and put out the best product we can.

6. Where can people support your work?

You can support us at and follow us on Tiktok/IG/Twitter @redseacomics to stay updated on when our next crowdfunding campaign goes live, and keep an eye out for The Saturn Effect: Alpha #1-4 coming to Kickstarter!
