This expansion included the Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium, one of its standout features. As of its opening, it was the largest planetarium in the Western Hemisphere and the fourth largest in the world, boasting a 100 feet diameter dome and an 89-foot diameter screen.

  • Skyscraper! Achievement and Impact: This comprehensive exhibit on skyscrapers includes models of the world’s tallest buildings, with detailed explanations of their construction and the science behind them.
  • Eat and Be Eaten: A unique exhibition that explores predator-prey relationships through unusual live animals like vipers, puffer fish, cotton-top tamarins, and more.
  • Communication: Spanning 7,000 square feet, this exhibit delves into human communication through interactive experiences involving mobile devices, multimedia, and various communication technologies.

The center also regularly hosts traveling exhibitions, which have included intriguing topics ranging from Ice Age mammoths and mastodons to the Titanic.

The Jennifer Chalsty Center for Science Learning and Teaching, opened in 2007, is a hub for educators and students. With six laboratories, a 150-seat theater, and other educational resources, it’s an ideal place for enhancing science teaching skills and inspiring students.
