Interview with the Developer of EONIA Revelations on Building a Fantasy Sci-Fi World

We had the pleasure of chatting with the developer of EONIA Revelations! “Explore a fascinating world of six vast biomes, where you can draw creatures, gather ingredients, solve ancient puzzles, and delve into a deep story in which fantasy crosses paths with science fiction as every step pulls you further and further into its secrets.”

1. What inspired your game?

I was inspired by the idea of building a large and coherent world, where every creature, plant, character, and structure has a purpose within the story. I wanted to combine fantasy with science fiction, explore political intrigue, ancient secrets, and the way different factions clash over ideas rather than violence. I was also driven by the need to create a place that feels alive and human, a distant island full of mysteries, calm moments, and quiet tensions, where players can move at their own pace, observing, discovering, and understanding the world as they go.

2. What are your goals for the game?

I want players to feel like they’re stepping into a world worth exploring. I want EONIA to feel real, with distinct biomes, memorable characters, and a story that unfolds through journals, books, conversations, and environmental discoveries. My goal is for curiosity to drive the experience: drawing, investigating, gathering, learning new skills, and understanding how the factions and their conflicts connect.

3. How would you pitch your game in 3–5 words?

A calm game with feelings.

4. What advice would you give to new developers?

Start with what you truly want to tell. Don’t compare yourself to other studios or get stuck thinking about the size of the market. Moving forward a little each day, even with doubts or limitations, builds more than it seems. What matters most is holding onto your idea and remembering why you began.

Creating a complete living  world from scratch. Receiving recognition that highlights the game’s universe, such as the Best Universe award at Rosario Expo Gaming and the Best Narrative nomination at the EVA Awards, also confirms that EONIA’s world truly resonates with people.

6. Where can people support your game?

On Steam, by adding it to their wishlist and trying the free demo. That’s where support helps the most and where the project can really grow.
