What are your best parenting tips on reading to and with kids? Let us know down below. Now let’s get into the interview with the amazing Sue Atkins!

What is the importance of read aloud and reading to kids?

Children learn to love the sound of language before they even notice the existence of printed words on a page. Reading books aloud to children stimulates their imagination and expands their understanding of the world. It helps them develop language and listening skills and prepares them to understand the written word.

Best advice for parents when picking out books for kids?

Go with their interests, hobbies and choice. Choosing the right books for your child is important; getting it right the first few times can spark the beginnings of a lifelong enthusiasm for reading. Choose books that allow your child to explore different worlds and lives but are still familiar enough that they can see themselves in the characters. The most memorable books from childhood are usually the ones which include vivid imagery, exciting stories and interesting characters.
