I discovered City Girl around two years ago from the album “neon impasse” and fell in love with the sound. I decided to reach out to learn more about who City Girl is and the journey they took to become a musician.
1. What inspired you to start making music?
My dad had a guitar no one played and i wanted to try. at first I hated it but years later I tried again and found it fun. it just felt really fun to do. Just a cool fun thing to do as a teen.
2. Do you have a favorite piece? If so why?
Im guessing u mean of my own? I really like empyrean off of TFLM
3. What other artist inspires you?
Recently ive liked audrey nuna and ARIES alot
4. What struggles do you face as an artist?
The past 6 months or so I’ve been in a lot of physical pain. It can be really hard to work on creative stuff when you’re in pain. It’s just so distracting. mentally tho it’s difficult to write things that feel good. It takes a lot of trial and error to find the right vibe.
5. Advice to other musicians?
Don’t listen to ppl who say you can’t do music or you’re wasting your time. if you’rere afraid to fail or be broke or make shitty music it will distract you from having fun. Try to block out all the negativity and just have fun and you will eventually find something meaningful. Also make music friends and join a community online. Having connections to producers and singers is SO important.
6.What are your plans for 2021?
I just want to heal. I want to be back at 100%. It’s been a while since I felt that way. I hope to fight for that and not give up. also jesus i wanna see my friends again. covid sucks lol.
