We had the pleasure of chatting with 88 Polygons all about their indie games!
1. What inspires your work?
The main games that inspired me to work on Super Trunko Go (my twin stick shooter game) are, Mega man, Bomberman, Pop n Twinbee and Ratchet and Clank. Most of these titles are sci fi/mech themes and are in the genre of shooters which I enjoyed playing in the past. All these titles had a non serious and fun aesthetic in which I wanted to implement towards my game.
2. Tell us about your game? What can fans expect?
Super Trunko Go is a twin stick shooter starring uncoventionally a super space elephant that shoots projectiles from his Trunk. His task is to defeat Lord Tusk his nemesis and all the enemies that he has control of in order to restore peace back to the planet. Fans can expect challenging gameplay through 24 levels in 6 worlds and 6 bosses. Generally, twin stick shooters don’t have a jump feature but for Trunko, there is a jump function to tackle dangerous hurdles and platforms. Players can discover 4 diferent Trunk add ons in the game that fires different projectiles to aid your quest, each with its difference in power and style!
3. What are your goals for 2023?
2023 is coming near and I am excited as a solo game developer to release my first game .Super Trunko Go is hopefully to be released in early 2023 if things run smooth and go to plan. The game is only available for PC at this moment in time, however I hope to look into other platforms in 2023.
4. What advice would you give to someone who wants to do what you do?
As a solo game developer, it can be a difficult and lonely journey but at the same time rewarding. My advice for anyone that wants to be a solo developer is to know your strengths and work on it and push it in your game and I’m sure at the end of the day people will see it.
