Exclusive Chat with “Super Impulse”: Inside the Fall Haul Campaign

We had the pleasure of chatting with  Alan Dorfman the President of Super Impulse all about their Fall Haul Campaign! In this hall you can expect to see:

  • World’s Smallest Rubik’s Cube: Because who doesn’t love a classic brain teaser? Perfect for a quick mental break.
  • World’s Smallest Slinky: It’s not just for stairs! Add some retro fun to your desk with this iconic toy.
  • World’s Smallest Pickleball: Now in vibrant new colors, because life’s too short for boring colors!
  • World’s Smallest Beer Pong: Miniature size, maximum fun! Perfect for tiny tournaments or a unique desk decor.
  • Squid Games Poptater: The ultimate quirky addition to your collection, inspired by everyone’s favorite survival drama.
  • World’s Smallest Uno: This tiny version is fully functional, including all the cards you’d find in a standard UNO deck—just in a much smaller size.

What’s the story behind the World’s Smallest collection? How do you decide which iconic toys or games to shrink down to tiny sizes?

Prior to Super Impulse, I was the founder of Basic Fun. Basic Fun was known for miniaturizing toys as keychains. When we started Super Impulse, it was a completely different product line. But the company I sold Basic Fun to decided to discontinue all of the wonderful keychain toys and go into a different direction. We saw an opportunity and decided to create World’s Smallest. World’s Smallest items are actually smaller than the keychains, and in many cases, as small as they can be made and still have full working function. The first five, introduced at New York Toy Fair, 2015, were Etch A Sketch, Duncan Yo-Yo, Perplexus, Rubik’s, and Little Green Army Men.

As far as deciding which we can do, we work with other toy companies for their signature brands; we look at what is trending; we try to recall our favorite toys from over the years. So, we always have our eyes open for opportunities. Fortunately, having a toy as World’s Smallest has become a sort of status symbol, so some companies come to us and offer us their brands.

Out of all the items in the “Fall Haul” kit, which one would you say brings back the most nostalgia for you? Do you have a favorite?

The most nostalgia? Definitely Slinky! A favorite toy since I was a kid, and I had the pleasure of working with Betty James, the founder of Slinky company, along with her husband Richard James, the inventor of Slinky. Betty named Slinky! She was a wonderful and impressive person, and she handed me an  Anniversary edition, which I had her sign the box.

Mini Beer Pong sounds like a hilarious twist! Do you have any fun or unexpected uses people have come up with for these World’s Smallest items?

Mini Beer Pong IS pretty funny. And people do have fun playing it. We are really impressed with how creative people are with World’s Smallest, and how they are used as props with full size Action Figures and other creative uses for social media posts.

The Squid Games Poptater definitely stands out in the lineup! Can we expect more quirky collaborations like this in the future?

We are about to launch One Piece Poptaters  – Luffy. t looks really great! Coming next year…[drumroll]… Godzilla Poptater – talk about quirky! Also look for Masters of the Universe Poptaters – He Man and Skelator. Skelator is pretty hilarious – he just isn’t as threatening as a potato.

Pickleball has been growing in popularity lately. How did the idea of creating a World’s Smallest Pickleball come about, and what makes it a fun collectible?

Oy! I have friend that is fully committed to Pickleball, he has a line of “Pickleball Is Life”apparel and accessories. He gives out our World’s Smallest Pickleball sets at the tournaments he puts together. The game has gotten so popular so quickly, that we HAD to be part it. I’m a tennis player, and it is common to see people have mini tennis balls attached to their tennis bags. We want to see the same with our World’s Smallest Pickleball on their pickleball bags.
