This volume has the best songs imo
also just do u know Qrow wasn’t lying to James just for the sake of deceiving him, he said right after “as you can imagine there’s a lot more to the situation than I’m willing to put in this letter” or something and how he wants to talk to him in person. he’s just using the “official” story on paper in case someone were to intercept it
Kat you forgot the Volume 6 character short. Heads up for Volume 7 there is no character short
I’m guessing Qrow planned on telling Ironwood the whole story when he got to Atlas. He just couldn’t put it in a letter on the chance it got intercepted and leaked. That the headmaster of Haven was a traitor and collaborator with those responsible for the fall of Beacon would cause mass panic and paranoia, not to mention any good optics the Faunus got defending the academy would go right out the window.
Qrow lied to James in the letter because that’s the story they told the public. If they told public how he really died it would make them start to question who he was working with leading the public to become closer to discovering Salem. They probably also did it as a precaution just incase the letter doesn’t make it to Ironwood and some else gets it
To be fair, Lionheart being a Faunus himself they COULD have easily painted him as a White Fang sympathizer, but Ozpin didn’t want to dishonor him like that and remember him for all the good he did before Salem got to him, rather than for his betrayal.
agreed
He also said that he couldn’t put the real story in writing, so it wasn’t like Ironwood thought that the official public story was the whole truth. That’s also assuming the letter even gets to Ironwood; we know Ruby’s letters never made it to Taiyang.
I’m glad I’m seeing this again; I forgot that Qrow tried to send word to Ironwood that they were coming.
You forgot Adam’s char short. Also sound feels quieter and the screen is a bit too small imo. There a reason you change how big/curved/positioned the screen is every few chapters?
What am I looking forward to in this volume for you?
1. A certain arc that’s coming up VERY soon. One of the best arcs in the show.
2. A certain song on the soundtrack I know will make you BAWL. It’s one of the best RWBY songs HANDS DOWN, right up there with This Life Is Mine. Seriously, there was not a dry eye in the fandom when it dropped. EVERYONE lost it. I just can’t wait to see your reaction to it.
I enjoyed that not only did Ren get a moment to shine, but Jaune also got to show off how useful his semblance is to boost everyone else’s powers. I agree that it was quite a good way to kick off the volume. Volume 6 is probably my favorite volume so far but only 3 eps. of Vol. 7 are out right now so we’ll see if this stays on top.
Also to be honest the constant quick zoom ins away from the episode were a bit disorienting for me and you’d constantly say “look at that” when we could see nothing ’cause it was zoomed away. Just a minor critique.
Poor Sun feeling like monkey in the middle between Yang and Illya. Thinking Wess Queen is least cold she used to Atlas cold weather I bet.
All I can say about what kind of ride you are in for, you are going to need tissues, chocolate, and eye drops. You’re going to need a hug. And want to hug every MC.
This is, with the exception of volume finales with the long version credits, the longest episode in the series so far. It’s a great way to get back into it after missing our girls for so long (for those who survived the usual inter-volume hiatus), and it reintroduces the characters and their abilities.
We’ve certainly come a long way since the Shadow People and bland backgrounds of Volume 1. Also, from the days when Weiss was just ‘Ice Queen,’ now she and Ruby just seem so much like sisters, especially as reflected in the new OP. And by the way, ‘Rising’ is one of my favourite OPs (behind V2’s). ‘The Reckoning,’ which plays during the train fight, is also one of my favourite songs. The old lady’s name is in the credits. Her importance is also reflected in the OP. Yet another great reason to put that after the volume premiere episode. There’s at least one such reason for Volume 7’s premiere as well. But to get there, you gotta go through this.
Volume 6 is a big one. Lots to see, and lots to learn. The shipping can get a bit heavy-handed at times, but I think you’ll enjoy it.
Ilia is pretty well the definition of ‘Woobie,’ but at least she seems to be moving slowly beyond her identity with the White Fang, as well as her obsession with Blake. Adam, not so much. And I find I’m unable to take him seriously when he’s throwing Kylo Ren-level tantrums, unlike his presentation in the Black Trailer and V3. He’s taken a downward slide thanks to his obsessions. More on that in later chapters.
Sun is definitely the best. He’s Michael’s most supportive character, pretty much Max’s polar opposite. But I think Michael is more entertaining when he’s not voicing animated characters to make them sound like him — for example, his Sheriff in the ‘Sheriff of Nottingham’ Let’s Roll, but especially Gerki in the ‘Red Dragon Inn’ Let’s Rolls. Only Michael could take what is essentially the whole game’s Butt Monkey and turn him into a force to be feared. And don’t worry about Team SSSN too much: they’re going to Vacuo, and Team CFVY could likely use the reinforcements.
The cape. Ruby needs to fix her cape. And her thighhighs, which have been torn since her Character Short.
Finally, this is Vic Mignogna’s last volume voicing Qrow before Jason Liebrecht takes over in Volume 7. A shame, since his chemistry with Aaron from their ‘FMA’ days is awesome to see. The circumstances are most unfortunate, and because of the way the case is still unfolding, even if they wanted to I think it is extremely unlikely RT would ever rehire Vic. What I’m saying is like it or not, it would be best to get used to Liebrecht’s Qrow, both the hits and the misses. I have hopes he will make an effort to make the character his own instead of trying to emulate Vic all the way through. No one emulates Mark Hamill’s Joker, so why would Liebrecht do the same with Qrow?
Hmmm… The “Fair Use Editing” here was super distracting. Is there away to not need it?
Anyway Kat: You like Lore? You are going to FLIP over Chapter 3.
You’re going to love her, she’s so comical and she’s one of my favourite characters!
chapters five and six are great!
Did you catch the reference to Alice Through the Looking Glass?
Dee and Dudley are basically Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. (Dee even calls Dudley “dummy” at one point.) Dee’s weapon kind of looks like a rattle. Like in Alice, they are met near a train stop, and chased away by a crow (Qrow).
so, rwby ops always first play after the season premiere so idk what we’re worried about with “spoilers”. like. if it spoils anything its in the first episode. anyway i just like the rwby ops and would love it if they were in the videos, if possible.
I remember back when they had an early release for this episode in theaters. It was about a few weeks early, and I was so stoked. Besides the awesomeness of so many other people their enjoying it their was one funny moment. Around the time Sun was saying “Don’t worry you haven’t seen the last of me.” someone was shouting “Sun dies this season calling it!”, and most of the theater broke into lafter over that outburst. (Sniff) Those were some good times, I miss that kinda stuff. need to go out more and have fun.
I haven’t been able to watch any of your reactions for the past day or so. I tried multiple browsers and my phone, is there something up on your end or am I crazy?
I’m having the same problem, and it’s been about 2 months since I sent an email through the “contact us” method. Did you ever figure out the problem?
