We had the pleasure of interviewing Vtuber @gilbert_goose!

1.What inspired you to become a Vtuber?

Well truth be told, I wasn’t exactly inspired to become a vtuber, but rather it was due to my very close friend group. They called me up one day and just said, “hey, what if we become vtubers??” and that started my vtuber journey. I’m here for the ride and I have no idea where it’s gonna take me!

2. Tell us about your model!

Well, simply speaking I’m a goose! I may not lay any golden eggs but that doesn’t stop my golden personality from shining through! My main point of interest is my beautiful blue and white spotted scarf! Without my scarf, I would look like any other goose out on the pond!

3.What is the best part about being a Vtuber?

Truthfully, there isn’t just one “best” part in my opinion. There’s so many things that have been both rewarding and amazing in this journey! But if I had to talk about one point that I hold dear to my heart, it’s the community that I’ve made. It’s very humbling when I see my chat not only engage in either chatting or throwing items at me on stream, but when they themselves have found a place to belong. Everyone greets each other, they know everyone and they wave to each other and have conversations. They are very welcoming to newcomers in my stream. Seeing the community grow into such a positive place just warms my heart.

4. What would you tell someone who wants to become a Vtuber? Any advice?

Personally, I’ve been working on my vtuber progress for over a year and I’ve only been streaming for just over 3 months, so I don’t feel that I’m qualified enough to give advice. But if I were to talk to someone who was looking to start, then I would say that you do not need to debut to start. It is a lot better to start streaming and work your way to a debut later down the road. Coming for someone who started their journey by debuting and then streaming, it is a challenge I was not prepared for. I had no experience with talking to a community, no idea how to really interact with chat and my nerves were at an all time high! I did not build up any experience prior to and it showed. Also, you do not need any of the expensive stuff to start with, there are plenty of free items, models, and assets to start with. It’s a lot easier to say that the community that you’re gonna grow is going to be there for you, the streamer. It doesn’t matter what your character looks like, if your character moves or is just an image, they are there for you and for you only. So do not feel pressured to have model art drawn by a popular twitter artist or to have your model rigged by a very well known group. Start small, and remember, pngtubing is valid! Vroid models are valid!

5. Goals for this year?

I don’t have many goals, mainly because I just want to have fun with my community. Streaming isn’t a full time option for me, so it’s a nice hobby to unwind and enjoy the company of others who share the same ideals as me.
