We Interviewed the Creator of Summoner’s Tale

We had the pleasure of chatting with the solo developer of Summoner’s Tale!

1. What inspires your work?

Playing video games was my main hobby since childhood, and I believe video games gave me a lot. For the games that hooked me up, I was trying to figure out what was good and what wasn’t, and perhaps what could make the games better. I even sent emails with my opinions to the companies that made these games, with no response, of course. My most beloved genres are RPGs and monster-taming games, starting with Digimon and going to all other titles, and I think I have played hundreds of RPGs and wanted to make my own someday, so Summoner’s Tale is (a light ARPG with monster-taming aspects) my first indie game, and I don’t think it will be the last.

2. Tell us about your game? What can fans expect?

Summoner’s Tale is a unique action-platformer monster-taming game! You will have the action-platformer aspects, taming, raising, and evolving monsters. Monsters are divided into four categories Companions, attackers, supporters, and enhancers, You can have one companion and two other monsters from the other categories at the same time, so you will be able to play a lot of different combinations and choose your style.

3. What are your goals for 2023?

I have my first demo in the kitchen now, and I expect it to be released at the beginning of next October, By the end of 2023 I hope to be able to complete Summoner’s Tale or at least an early access to it.

4. What advice would you give to someone who wants to do what you do?

My biggest piece of advice is that there are no excuses anymore for not starting your indie game if that is your goal. I say this because the resources for learning (free and paid) are massive right now, and game engines are free and accessible, plus the community is huge, and you will find all the answers you seek in most situations, and finally for those who believe they don’t have time, I am a full-time senior Game Developer with a family and even with all of the responsibilities I have I can find even half an hour a day and that’s quite enough (not me alone in that situation a lot of great indie game developers have this and more and they still do the dream). So please go ahead and let’s do it

5. Where and how can people support your work?

I have a steam page for Summoner’s Tale you can add it to your wishlist there and wait for the demo coming next month. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2081350/Summoners_Tale/… And I have a Twitter account where I share all updates about summoner’s tale and more. https://twitter.com/NegmWorld Also, here is my linked-in profile. https://linkedin.com/in/mohamed-negm-06267b116/… You can reach me on Twitter or LinkedIn, and I will be glad to answer your questions or help with anything I can do.
