We Interviewed the Creator of Potion Tales

We had the pleasure of chatting all about the indie game Potion Tales!

1. What inspires your work?

For Potion Tales specifically, we were inspired by games like Coffee Talk and Va11halla that have you experiencing your characters story from behind a bar. We also recently played Inscryption and we heard, that it shows! More generally, we both enjoy how games can create narratives that can go a lot of different ways, something that most other media can not do so easily.

2. Tell us about your game?

What can fans expect? Potion Tales is a narrative-focused game about brewing potions. You are a witch, who runs a small potion shop in the undercity. Customers come in and tell you about their problems and you decide which potions to brew for them. Your choices will have lasting consequences and can completely alter a characters storyline. The game has a huge branching story-tree with several unique endings and different stories for each of our potions.

3. What are your goals for 2023?

2023 will be a huge year for us. It’ll be the year that both of us graduate and that we release our first game on Steam. After that we plan to start work on an upcoming project that we have planned.

4. What advice would you give to someone who wants to do what you do?

Start early, get help and stick with it. There are tons of free engines and tutorials and there is a huge community that actively wants to help you. Don’t loose hope if you get stuck, it happens to everyone.

5. Where and how can people support your work?

Currently the best way to support us is to wishlist our game on Steam. We are also always happy about any feedback, which you can send to [email protected] or to @PotionTales on Twitter.
