Today we interviewed Paul Gerrard a Concept Artist and the CEO & Founder at FINAL IMPACT COMICS!
1. Tell us about Final Impact Comics?
Final Impact Comics is a studio with a difference. We develop comics for clients who want to develop their stories into Film, Tv or games. Starting with the comic that they may then use to pitch to studios or to start their marketing and promotion phase. We also have our own long running graphic novel series that we are creating alongside the TV scripts.
2. How long have you been creating art? What inspires your work?
Since I was about 12. I love to create ‘worlds’ with characters. To encompass the style, the atmosphere and the narrative of unique places with characters, creatures. I was doing this for movies for around 15 years, before that games.
3. What are the plans for Final Impact Comics this year? Any big news?
To keep growing, keep working with incredible talent and keep creating these unique worlds. The big news is our own flagship graphic novel series RIVALS: The Loyalty of Sago Astar which stars the likeness of actor /action star Gary Daniels has been picked up to be developed into a live action Tv show. That is before we even launched the series! A producer saw the ‘one shot’ we created last year along with all the promotional art and of course an accompanying pitch deck and script.
4. What advice would you give someone who wants to do what you do?
Start small, start slow and have a long term plan. It takes years to grow a company, change careers or start your journey. YEARS! So plan for that.
5. What are your goals/plans for this year?
This year we launch RIVALS issue one. It has been promoted for a long time and has taken an age to craft. We wanted to get it right, the pencils alone for each page take over a week to complete. The detail, the style, everything is about raising the bar on this and making a statement. Sago is here to stay! We are also planningto be able to start another of our series called The Android’s Graveyard along with HARDWIRED.
