We Interviewed Baiyue & Maowa the Lunar Fox & Comfy Cat Vtubers!

We talked with Baiyue & Maowa all about being a Vtuber!

1. What inspired you to become a Vtuber?

Nothing special! I’ve never been particularly interested in Vtubing until I stumbled on a second-hand model a while back, and it was incredibly fun to play with! I’ve had a little bit of experience streaming art prior to this and never planned to use a cam, so I thought: why not!

I have the art skills to design and draw my own model, and I’ve been interested in rigging for several years. This was right on the cusp of many of my friends learning rigging at the same time, so it was a great time to start!

2. Tell us about your model!

My two models are Baiyue and Maowa! It’s a bit confusing so I must clarify that I AM ONE PERSON who uses TWO MODELS with different personalities!!

Baiyue is an old lunar fox goddess whom I created in 2016! She’s fun, flirty, and super duper peppy, so I have a really good time RPing as her on twitter. Maowa, a cute lil’ cat girl, is more serious, very deadpan, and generally uninterested. I’ve always had her pegged as a hermit who spends most of her time learning and picking up various hobbies, so I guess she’s pretty similar to me in that aspect!!

Baiyue is a gamer and a social butterfly – I use her to interact with others on Twitter and stream games! Maowa is the artsy one, so I pull up her model when I’m doing art or rigging streams.

3. What is the best part about being a Vtuber?

I see Vtubing as an amazing multimedia project for me personally – it gives me an awesome opportunity to brush up on my graphic design, writing, art and rigging skills simultaneously, while also learning the in’s and out’s of social media and content streaming. I’ve learned a lot so far and it’s been incredibly fun – not to mention, it’s been fantastic being able to bring two of my oldest characters to life and share them with the world!

4. What would you tell someone who wants to become a Vtuber? Any advice?

Gosh, I’m pretty new to this scene so I’m not sure I’m qualified to speak to this!

I would say – curate your content!! Make sure every one of your tweets, tiktoks, posts, etc, are interesting! Be mindful when you stream – sharing your screen while you’re gaming is completely different from actually Vtubing! Engage with your audience and make sure everyone is having a good time…this isn’t something you should autopilot.

Overall, Vtubing is a lot of work, and if you’re not going to give it your 100%, you won’t get the results you’re looking for!

5. Goals for this year?

I’d love to figure out my audience better so I can bring more interesting content to them! We’re definitely also aiming for some of those overall follower growth goals so that we can start streaming on a regular schedule and create a fun little community! Definitely more giveaways in the works as well!

6. Where can people support you?

Please check us out on our twitter (https://twitter.com/BaiyueMaowa) as well as Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/baiyuemaowa)!!

We stream and post regularly and love interacting with our followers!! THANKS SO MUCH!
