Kamen Rider Interview!

We decided interviewed Kamen Rider fans from the discord server ????oei x ????suburaya all about their experience with Kamen Rider! Today our interview was with AH A member of the discord server and a fellow Kamen Rider fan.

1. When did you first get introduced to Kamen Rider? Which series did you start with?

I encountered Kamen Rider in 2018, where I started off with Kabuto (2006).

2. What is your favorite part about Kamen Rider stories?

When it comes to Kamen Rider stories I like, I think one of the main factors is how grounded in reality the whole scenario plays in as well as character interactions. I’m quite picky with the series’ I like. They need to be more on the realistic end like Kuuga (2000) and have great character interactions, whether you love the characters or not.

3. If you could be one character from Kamen Rider who would it be and why?

Hibiki because I feel like he’s a guy who’s faced a lot of things in life and sorted through them. He’s a very casual and kind guy but he also has a selfish side to him which I think is important because it balances out the ‘niceness’.

4. What would you tell someone who isn’t sure if they want to start Kamen Rider? How would you convince them to watch?

All my attempts have failed so far so maybe I shouldn’t say anything. I guess ‘character interaction’ or ‘realistic’ aren’t enough for most people.

5. How has your experience with the fandom been? Positive? Negative? What is your favorite part?

My experience has been overall positive but that might be because I don’t really go out of my way to interact with many fans. I’ve heard others that say it’s a toxic place but it’s been good for me. I guess I just love seeing how there are other people interested in the same things I am. : )

6. Which series is your favorite and why?

Kuuga. I fell in love with it once I saw how it wasn’t just a story about Godai Yusuke. I’d say most of the supporting cast played crucial roles where they could. Things like how the police weren’t useless (first show where I saw they didn’t make a foolery out of the police), how society was reacting to the Grongi, and the lives of many individuals and side stories. The characters and soundtracks also have me a nostalgic feeling that hooked me in.

7. How has Kamen Rider impact your life?

Watching Kamen Rider I’d say made me appreciate real people much more. It’s easier to do things like ‘Don’t judge a book by its cover’ if you’ve seen practical examples with your favourite characters.

8. And Finally! What is your all time favorite fight scene from Kamen Rider!

The final fight in Agito where the El Lords were surprised at Hikawa Makoto’s strength. ‘I’m just a mere human!’ Was such a memorable line.
