Pride Month Reading Event highlights books with LGBTQIA+ characters all year round, with a focus on June Pride Month.

Readers and allies in the LGBTQIA+ community are always looking for their next read and creating an event and place where they can find independently published and traditionally published books will streamline this. Events just add to the fun!

So how do I participate?

A range of events are hosted throughout June and the year.

Readathon: Spend June reading as many books with LGBTQIA+ characters as you can

Fundraisers: As you read books, raise money to donate to LGBTQIA+ charities and causes

Pride Book Database: Submit books and comics to PMRE forms as we curate a database of Adult, YA and NA works with LGBTQIA+ characters. You can check out different ages and markets to find the right read for you

Bingo: Use our ready-made bingo cards, or create your own, to keep track of which books you’ve read for the readathon or get inspired by prompts

Giveaways: Authors will be hosting book giveaways throughout the month

Reading Parties: Host a reading party on your social media, Youtube, Twitch or Tiktok. Go live with your audience, or hop in a video/voice call together and get reading. Great for fundraising too!

#PrideRecs: A weekly Wednesday event during June to share recommendations for books with LGBTQIA+ characters

#PridePit: A positivity pitch event about sharing WIPs and books with LGBTQIA+ characters

Reviewer-Book Matchmaking: To help reviewers find a list of reads to add to their TBR, based on what they’re looking for and their interests

What hashtags to use for this event?

#PMRE2023: meaning Pride Month Reading Event. A general hashtag for the June events and other activities associated with PMRE year round

#PrideRecs: A weekly Wednesday event during June to share recommendations for books with LGBTQIA+ characters

#PridePit: A positivity pitch event about sharing WIPs and books with LGBTQIA+ characters, hosted from June 23rd – June 25th
