1. What are your plans for YouTube?

If all goes well I’m hoping to share a much more in depth look at how my sculptures come to life! For now I’m planning to stay within The Sims universe, creating my favourite characters and chaotic creatures, but I’m a big fan of many games (Zelda, Pokémon and Animal Crossing just to name a few!) so potentially I’d branch out in the future. At the moment, I’d really like to get a consistent schedule of one video per month. Mostly it’ll be focusing on larger sculpts (passion projects which take more time and materials than my usual miniatures) and I’d love to find a good balance of entertaining yet also somewhat educational content. I say “somewhat” knowing that I’m definitely not organised enough to create structured tutorial content haha.

2. What made you decide to start posting on YouTube?

I get a lot of questions and requests on Instagram to share how I create my art, which I’m always happy to answer and share insight if I can. But I’m self taught, and I think a lot of people worry they’re just not creative enough to try out something like sculpting. So if sharing a look behind the scenes can inspire someone else to pick up a pack of clay, paint or whatever, that would just be amazing. Art has helped me through some pretty tough times, just as much as gaming! So overall, I just want to share the joy of creating nerdy art. I’m also hoping it’ll be a chance to show myself as a real person, not just a profile picture on a screen! Recording my first voice over was tougher than expected, but no doubt it’ll get easier after the first few videos… hopefully. With any luck I’ll look back in a years time and be proud I started, despite the awkwardness.

3. Goals for your YouTube?

My first goal is to keep a one video per month schedule. It would be amazing if YouTube could someday provide me with the ability to fund the larger projects I want to make, there are a lot of artists I look up to who’ve had incredible opportunities come their way through sharing their sculptures and process on video. Also, as someone who’s watched YouTube for many, many years, it’d be really cool to make videos that share my love of games and art with other likeminded creatives.

4. Where can people support you?

Honestly I’ve been meaning to set up a tip jar for the longest time, but talked myself out of it again and again! I really need to work on that. My shop has been on break for a couple months over summer, but a restock for miniatures will be coming later this month! I’m working on a herd of little cowplants that will be looking for new homes very soon at http://cottoneesocks.com And support by sharing or even just leaving a friendly comment on Instagram or Twitter is always appreciated.
