Evans starts off the panel by talking about the fact he almost didn’t pick up the shield when the role of Captain America was offered to him. He says that it was out of fear, mainly from seeing the contract and being overwhelmed by the number of movies he would be making and how much pressure that would rest on his shoulders. But in the end, he took the role, and as he put it, “…it ended up being the best decision of my life.” When asked if he would return to play the role of Captain America, he stated, “As much as I’m connected to that role, love telling those stories, and working with those people, it doesn’t quite feel right, right now.”

Along with Captain America, Chris Evans has also played quite a few comic book characters from things like The Fantastic Four and Scott Pilgrim. However, even though it seems to be a pattern, Evans assures that it wasn’t something he planned, but having that starting point of a pre established fan base is something reassuring since it lets him know that what he’s putting so much work behind will be seen. But at the same time, that brings along its own kind of pressure because people are connected to the source material, and he wants to honor that. He ends it all by saying, “Comics just have all the right ingredients for a good film.”
