We had the pleasure of chatting with the team behind Towards Galaxy’s End! Indie animations are truly something special. If you are on the search for a new animation to support do NOT miss out on this project. The art, story, and minds behind it are truly incredible! Read the interview to learn more about the project and it’s development! Be sure to follow Kennedy Freeman the series creator!
“If you had the chance to come back to life after dying prematurely, would you go back to living your ordinary life or would you seize the moment? Follow along as Ami and Sabrina assemble a team of….magical girl space vampires….?”
1. Tell us about Towards Galaxy’s End
by @kenzyxart
Towards Galaxy’s End is a slice of life, magical girl show! It’s about a girl named Amina (Ami) Amelia Watson who dies, however is brought back to life under the stipulation that she has to come back as an extinct or going extinct species. She chooses a Vetrabrautin Upir, which is fancy talk for a space vampire, and decides go form a magical girl group out of the other girls that “chose” the same species. Will she succeed in building this silly little team?
2. What advice would you give to new animators
“I feel like… I want to let my team also answer this question. On my end (Kenzy/Kennedy) I guess… one thing to remember is to treat your team as how you’d want to be treated. And always be open to throwing ideas around with your team. You’re a team for a reason! The show maybe your baby, but it’s theirs too! So why not cultivate it together?”
“hmm, I think one advice I learned from my job is that it’s okay to start an animation cycle over if something looks wrong. Cause a lot of times you’ll spend too much time trying to fix a small part of it that no longer matches the rest of the animation rather than just doing it over, cause you’ll fall into a sunk cost fallacy. Plus doing it over will help improve your speed, perception, and muscle memory” -(Joel Ramirez Our Talented 3D Animator)
“Never be afraid to act out what you’re animating, and record references as much as you can! Also hyperfixate on something so hard that it makes you want to whip out thousands of drawings at mach speed” -(Anaïs Won Our Amazing BG/Layout Artist)
“Create something even if you think it’s bad. Us creatives get stuck in a loop of being our own harsh critics and usually get trapped in a perfectionist mindset. Don’t get stuck, keep creating.” -(TheOfficialAcro Our Awesome Music Producer)
“I’m no proper animator- I’m a hobbyist beginner at best- BUT advice I would give to new animators is to be patient with themselves as they learn the software. A lot of these industry standard software seem very intimidating with all they have but taking your time to see what does what and practice all you can will help with the flow in the long run and would definitely help you to be able to make deadlines.” -(Desiree Romero VA for Sabrina Torres)
“My advice is…don’t. NO WAIT My advice is believe in yourself” -(Jannah Our incredible 2D Animator)
3. What theme/messages do you hope viewers take away from Towards Galaxy’s End
by @kenzyxart
I think, one thing that I like to tackle is the message of understanding everyone’s side and lives. We all walk different paths and experience different things, which guide our choices in life.
4. What inspired your work?
by @kenzyxart
Madoka Magica…Ojamajo Doremi (Magical Doremi), Little Witch Academia, Kill La Kill! And Beyond the Boundary! …Does that spoil anything?
5. Thoughts on All Ages of Geek?
I believe that you guys are doing something pretty cool, spreading more info on indie projects!! Thank you for that!
6. What has been your biggest success story for Towards Galaxy’s End
by: @TrailingFeather
Honestly, just working with the people I had the chance to work with! I originally planned on doing this thing solo, but then I met Wavez Joestar (my VA for Angel) and he actually gave me the idea to ask my friends and his friends for help! I don’t think we’d have gotten this far if it wasn’t for the fact that the team has helped me every step of the way in becoming a better director and working to better this story!
7. Where can folks support your work?
OOO! Follow our YouTube! We could use the follows! We are also pretty active on TikTok and Twitter! We’re also pretty active in our arg- did I say too much? Also be sure to follow the team! This beast of a project couldn’t be done without them! Their socials ((and other surprises)) are on our website!
